The Tinkerer by JohnKohlepp The Tinkerer by JohnKohlepp
I thought this would end up very grand, but it turned out simple and sweet.

sometimes, things don't need to be grand to be wonderful. The mood in this is so wonderful - reminds me a little of sepia.

It's just... the light, flowing in from the wide open window, making the whole room shine, especially that pretty pretty bird... Makes it glowing, just like it's about to live and fly away.

And the expression of that old man...

Aw. That picture is telling a story. I am simply not yet sure, which.

It's been a long time since I've visited DA, and what is the first art I see? I'm happy to see you've completed The Tinkerer. It finished splendidly and I find it very sweet and calming. /hugs

I was wondering if you would mind if I created a short story out of this image, for a writing class of mine?

I wouldn't mind at all! Could you send me a copy of what you've written when you're done? I'm dying to see what you come up with...

I'd say you got it just right hon ;) Very soft and dreamy, I'd guess early morning light. He's a very early riser and has already been tinkering for a bit before the sun even came up I'm sure. Oh, and I still want that squirrel! :glomp:

I think you got just the right amount of light and warmth in this, John. I get a sense of calm, love, time slowly passing and the soft perfume of honeysuckle flowers. Adding this to my shopping cart and putting the print in my study (once it is complete, the builder hasn't left yet LOL).

And sometimes simple and sweet IS very grand :) *hugs*
